Franco Colapinto

Who's this guy?
Franco Colapinto’s F1 story has already featured two mid-season call-ups. The Williams Academy driver made his debut in late 2024, replacing Logan Sargeant and becoming the first Argentine in F1 since 2001. A proven race winner in junior categories, he’d joined Williams in 2023 and sampled F1 machinery in FP1 at Silverstone before stepping in at Monza.
Although quick from the outset, Williams’ 2025 signing of Carlos Sainz left Colapinto without a race seat. He moved to Alpine as reserve but was soon back on the grid, taking over from rookie Jack Doohan for at least five Grands Prix from round seven onward.
Still early in his career, Colapinto’s adaptability and pace have kept him firmly in the frame for a long-term place on the F1 roster.
