  • A bit of history

Though Mercedes-Benz has roots in Grand Prix racing dating back to the 1930s, their modern Formula 1 chapter began in earnest in 2010, following their acquisition of the championship-winning Brawn GP team. What followed was one of the most dominant eras in F1 history. Under the leadership of Toto Wolff, and powered by cutting-edge engineering and the brilliance of Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes claimed eight consecutive constructors’ titles (2014–2021) and seven drivers’ championships in that span.

From their Silver Arrows heritage to their sleek hybrid-era dominance, Mercedes rewrote the standards of success in modern Formula 1 — with icons like Hamilton, Rosberg, and Valtteri Bottas at the wheel.

    2024 Season
Drivers: Lewis Hamilton & George Russell

A season of transition as the team prepares for Hamilton’s final year with Mercedes before his switch to Ferrari. Both drivers consistently score points, but podiums are hard-fought rather than expected. Development focus shifts mid-season toward the 2025 car, with Russell showing strong one-lap pace and Hamilton remaining a strategic force on Sundays. Mercedes remain competitive but not dominant, sitting third in the constructors’ standings as of mid-season.

    2023 Season
Drivers: Lewis Hamilton & George Russell

Mercedes show modest progress over 2022, but still trail Red Bull by a wide margin. Hamilton secures multiple podiums, showing consistency and racecraft, while Russell struggles to convert strong qualifying into race-day results. Despite the lack of wins, the team’s stability helps secure P2 in the constructors’ championship, holding off Ferrari in a close fight.

    2022 Season
Drivers: Lewis Hamilton & George Russell

The first season of the ground-effect era proves challenging for Mercedes. The W13 is plagued by porpoising, inconsistent handling, and setup woes. However, the team adapts through the year, culminating in Russell’s maiden F1 win in Brazil, part of a Mercedes 1–2 finish. Despite a winless year for Hamilton, the team shows resilience, finishing third in the constructors’ standings.
