Gabriel Bortoleto arrives in F1 as Brazil’s first full-time driver since Felipe Massa in 2017, fresh off back-to-back F3 and F2 titles. His 2024 campaign was capped by a stunning last-to-first win in Monza’s Feature Race — a drive that got the whole paddock talking.

Born in São Paulo, he started karting at seven with strong backing from his father, Lincoln Oliveira, and quickly climbed through local and international championships. By 11, he was racing in Europe, following in the footsteps of hero Ayrton Senna and making his mark in single-seaters.

He impressed in Italian F4 and Formula Regional, earning a place under Fernando Alonso’s A14 management. With McLaren’s seats already locked, Sauber came calling, pairing him with veteran Nico Hülkenberg for 2025.

His first official test in Abu Dhabi left him calling it “an amazing feeling” — now, the 20-year-old is focused on turning his rookie season into the start of a long F1 career.
