Daniel Ricciardo Bids F1 Goodbye as Liam Lawson Secures Seat for Remainder of 2024 Season

It seems Daniel Ricciardo’s storied Formula 1 career has reached its conclusion, as Red Bull confirms that the Australian will not be returning to the grid for the remaining six rounds of the 2024 season.
In his place, 22-year-old Liam Lawson will step in, marking his official return after an impressive five-race stint in 2023.
For Ricciardo, this decision is bittersweet. The 35-year-old, who has been a fan favorite for years with his infectious personality and memorable victories, is stepping away after 257 grand prix starts and eight wins over 14 seasons
. While the move was hinted at during the Singapore Grand Prix, it became official on Thursday, closing a significant chapter in Ricciardo’s racing journey.
Taking to Instagram to reflect on his career, Ricciardo posted a heartfelt message, acknowledging both the joy and challenges he's faced.
“I’ve loved this sport my whole life. It’s wild and wonderful and been a journey,” he wrote. “To the teams and individuals that have played their part, thank you. To the fans who love the sport sometimes more than me, haha, thank you. It’ll always have its highs and lows, but it’s been fun, and truth be told, I wouldn’t change it. Until the next adventure.”
While Lawson steps in with a chance to cement his place on the 2025 grid, fans will undoubtedly miss Ricciardo's larger-than-life presence in the paddock. His future may be uncertain, but his impact on F1 will never be forgotten.
