A bit of history

The Italian Grand Prix has been part of the Formula 1 World Championship every single year since its inception in 1950, making it one of only two races (alongside the British GP) to appear uninterrupted on every F1 calendar.

  • Its history stretches even further back, with non-championship races held as early as 1921

  • Since 1949, it has been almost exclusively held at Monza, Italy’s “Temple of Speed”

The race is deeply tied to Ferrari’s history, the Tifosi fanbase, and Italian national pride — making it one of the most emotional and atmospheric races in the sport.

Located in a royal park just outside Milan, Monza is the fastest circuit in Formula 1, with average speeds exceeding 250 km/h

Famous for:

  • Long straights and tight chicanes (Rettifilo, Roggia).

  • Historic corners like Lesmo, Ascari, and the iconic Parabolica (now renamed Curva Alboreto).

  • Minimal downforce setups, favoring top speed over grip.

  • Originally home to banked oval sections, parts of which still remain as haunting remnants of motorsport’s raw past.
