A bit of history
While Brazil has hosted a Grand Prix since 1973, the race was officially renamed the São Paulo Grand Prix in 2021 to better reflect local government support and funding. Previously, it was known simply as the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The race has been held almost exclusively at Autódromo José Carlos Pace — better known as Interlagos
Brazil has produced legendary F1 figures like Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet, and Emerson Fittipaldi, giving the event deep emotional and national significance
1991: Ayrton Senna wins his home race for the first time, despite being stuck in sixth gear — a career-defining emotional victory
